Diversification and raising foreign direct investment into the country are two of the objectives of Vision 2040.
Muscat: 50 industrial projects will be set up as part of continued efforts to diversify and encourage investment across multiple sectors of Oman’s economy.
“The industry sector has worked on the idea of setting up 50 projects, at a total value of OMR200 million, to enhance local contribution,” said Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion. “Involved in its development were Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) and the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn).”
The minister was speaking at a press conference organised to discuss the various plans drawn up by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) to promote trade and investment, increase competitiveness, and develop a knowledge-based economy.

Automatic licence approval plan to help in economic liberalisation in Oman

Muscat: Businesses will now be able to set up operations in Oman faster, and investors will find it easier to support them, following the arrival of the automatic licence approval scheme.
Introduced by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP), the scheme aims to cut the time required for businesses and investors to receive approvals towards contributing their resources to the country.
“Facilitating procedures related to investment in the Sultanate is at the top of the list of businessmen and business owners’ concerns, including small and medium enterprises,” said Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, the Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Investment Promotion. “The launch of the automatic licencing approval service will reduce the cost of investment and will speed up transactions.”

PHILADELPHIA (BP) â Americans bought more Bibles in 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic spread, industry leaders said, but a major study shows Bible engagement during the pandemic was no greater than the previous year.
Both Lifeway Christian Resources and Thomas Nelson Bibles saw increases in Bible sales, which a Thomas Nelson executive described as an increase seen industry wide.
But the American Bible Society (ABS), in conducting both its annual State of the Bible research in early 2020 followed by a special COVID-19 study months later, found that Bible engagement slacked after the pandemic began.
